Woman gets six years for drug trafficking

By BBN Staff:   Today marks the first week in prison for a Belmopan woman after she failed to pay fines for being found guilty of drug trafficking earlier this year.

Florita Janet Hyde, 30, had been found guilty of two counts of drug trafficking. She was ordered to pay $10,000 in each case or in default imprisonment of three years for each count.

She never paid and became a fugitive running from the law. However, Superintendent Howell Gillett conducted an intense investigation which led to her arrest.

Last Friday Hyde was dragged in front of the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court and sentenced to six years in prison
