Castro apologizes for R word

By BBN Staff: At today’s Sitting of the House, NEMO Minister Edmund Castro apologized to 7 News reporter, Daniel Ortiz after calling him “retarded” during an interview last week.

Castro was asked about questionable business transactions now affecting the sugar industry, and in an attempt to deflect away from the question, he twice referred to Ortiz as retarded, raising the ire of many in the public and especially on social media.

He also made clear that he had apologized the day after the interview was aired and at today’s Sitting, he further apologized to the public for his insensitive use of the word.

Castro stated that he felt bad after he had said it. He pledged never to do it again. He also apologized to 7 News.
