Belize City sees second murder on second day of the year

By BBN Staff: It has now been 63 days since Andre Vega and Sharon Pitts were ordered to return the $400,000 they each had received from the Government of Belize in suspicious land transactions.
Resigned Attorney General Vanessa Retreage had written Pitts and Vega in October ordering them to returns the monies.
When she announced her resignation at the end of 2016, Retreage had promised the media she would provide an update on all ongoing issues in the Lands Department.
However, she has not.
Sources close to the government have indicated that Pitts and Vega have not returned those monies and have provided no response
Additionally, to date there has been no word from the Office of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Natural Resources or the Ministry of Finance.
Sources have also indicated that it will taken even longer before an update is shared given the recent Cabinet shuffle and the appointment of a new Attorney General.
