In addition to Belize’s pristine forests, abundant wildlife and diverse cultures, the country is home to many breathtaking beaches.
National Geographic recently compiled a list of the world’s 21 best beaches in an article on its website.
Pelican beach, South Water Caye, in Belize is listed as one of the 21 best beaches in the world.
In the article, it is described as being the only place in Belize where visitors can swim safely to the reef within minutes and explore the South Water Caye Marine Reserve.
“…full of colorful coral, angelfish, blue tang, sea turtles, all in less than 20 feet of water,” the article states referring to a guidebook by Lebawit Lily Girma.
Recently, Belize has been featured on several other travel lists as one of the best destinations to visit in 2017.
Forbes had also recently listed Santa Familia Village in the Cayo district as one of the best destinations to live.
