By BBN Staff: Yesterday two Belize City cops, Kenrick and Akeem Gamboa (brothers) appeared in court after they were charged for beating a teenager.

The nineteen year old teen told police that on Saturday he was socializing at a home on mile four when the two officers gained entry and attacked him.

According to the teen, one of the men pointed a firearm on his direction and fired several shots to intimidate him.

However, he attempted to run in the direction of Belize City but the men caught him and beat him unconsciously.

The teen and his mother made a formal complaint and when the men appeared in court they both pled not guilty to grievous harm.

Kenrick Gamboa additionally answered to a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

However he pled not guilty.

They were both offered bail but for grievous harm but Kenrick could not secure bail for the firearm related charge as a result he was remanded to prison; while Akeem remains detained at the Queen Street Police Station until he can secure payment for his bail.
