Belize City man escapes attempt on his life

By BBN Staff: Eletero Mckenzie, 31, is lucky to be alive after two gun men on separate bicycles attacked him.According to police reports, sometime before 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Mckenzie was standing behind the fence of an unknown alley on Amara Avenue, Belize City, when he saw two unknown male persons approaching him on separate bicycles.

One of the men then reportedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him.  Fearing for his life, he reportedly started running into the alley towards his house when he heard several shots fired and realized he had been shot.

McKenzie was admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition with gunshot wounds to the right calf and to the right shin.

No one has yet been charged.
