Belizean embraced by Lady Gaga during Superbowl show

By BBN Staff: Many Belizeans are fans of the Superbowl. They were fascinated with the performance of Lady Gaga last night especially when she went to the audience and singled out a young girl with Belizean roots and embraced her. Both of her parents are Belizeans.

Belizeans on social media have been exploding with the picture since then.

Ally Bellini is a sophomore at Dobie High School. She is part of the school’s dance team, and the group said they spent two weeks practicing for the show. “I was hugging her, and then I realized so many people are watching me, I was, like, tearing up, and I was just (trying to) hold it together just a little bit longer. As soon as the lights went down in that area I bawled. I cried. I couldn’t stop crying,” Bellini told a reporter of Click 2 Houston news.

“It’s a really cool experience to share and talk about,” Bellini said. All of the participants were told to keep all of the halftime stunts a secret, Bellini said, so that the show would be a surprise for the audience. Bellini said Lady Gaga is welcome to hug her anytime. “I’m always here in Houston,” Bellini said.

Bellini’s team was just one of the local dance troops that participated in Gaga’s halftime show.

In an interview for the Billboards, Bellini spoke about the excitement during the Superbowl: “I’m a huge fan of hers and when I found out we were doing this I cried for days.” Did she practice the hug with Gaga before Sunday night? “No! It was completely random! My friends were so excited for me. I didn’t know how to react at the time but they were all yelling and jumping on me and hugging me.”

She also told the Billboards that her parents were gathered with the rest of the family at her uncle’s house for a viewing party and they all started screaming when they saw Ally get singled out for some special attention from Gaga.
