One detained for $15,000 robbery at Uno gas station

By BBN Staff: According to police reports, on yesterday at about 9:00 a.m., police responded to a robbery in progress at the Uno Gas Station on Vernon Street in Belize City and proceeded to the location where officers spoke with the administrator who reported that about 8:58 a.m. he arrived at the gas station to deposit three Scotia Bank bags containing money.

Two of the bags with monies were to be deposited at the gas station and one bag to Scotia Bank, Belize City. He stated that he left one bag at the gas station and took the bag which contained two Scotia Bank bags with approximately $15,878.

He reported that while exiting the office he was ambushed by two men.  One of culprits pointed a black .9 mm at him and took away the Jansport bag containing the cash.

The other assailant took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register and then both made good their escape.

Police later impounded a gold colored four-door Honda Accord with no license plate and have detained one person. Police are seeking two others as investigations continue.
