Traffic accident in Sandhill village

By BBN Staff: There was a traffic accident at mile 18 of the Philip Goldson Highway, Sand Hill village.

Ladyville police observed a gold Toyota Camry partially off the right hand side of the highway heading to Orange Walk with its front portion extensively damaged.

Also seen was a gold Ford F150 adjacent to the Toyota Camry on the left hand side of the with its front driver’s side extensively damaged facing the direction of Belize City.

Richard Gentle, a 48-year-old prison officer from Orange Walk, was the driver of the Toyota Camry. He was seen with abrasions to the face and complained of back pain. He was accompanied by three other male occupants, namely Kerth Guzman, 43, who suffered a small cut wound to the right hand; Luis Chan, 29, who complained of pain over the body and Robert Hernandez Sr., 53, who also complained of pain over the body.

Gilbert Waight, a 30-year-old bus driver from Lords Bank, was seen lying face down in the pan of the F150 pickup truck unresponsive. He was observed with a large cut wound under the left foot and abrasion to the face.

Shortly after, a BERT ambulance arrived and the 5 men were escorted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. At the time of the accident the road condition was wet due to heavy rain in the area.

Waight is under observation at the KHMH and the other 4 men have since been treated and released.
