Armed robbery at Route 88 Sports Bar in Belize City; Robbers take over US$1200

By BBN Staff: On Saturday, around 12 p.m., police responded to a robbery at Route 88 Sports Bar in Belize City where they met and spoke with the manager 35-year-old Jian Bing Chen who reported that at around 11:55 a.m., while behind the counter, two dark complexion male person entered the business establishment where one pointed a firearm at him and demanded money.

Fearing for his life, he complied with their demand and opened the cash register and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash while the other male person stretched over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash, which amounted to US $1,239.00.

Both male persons then rode off on North Front Street, Belize City and made good their escape on separate bicycles.

Police have since detained two men pending investigation.
