By BBN Staff:The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) has won another round of battle against the Ministry of Education and by extension the Government of Belize.
According to BNTU President, Luke Palacio, the Ministry of Education will not deduct the salaries of thousands of teachers who participated in eleven days of protest last October.
Readers will recall that the protest was for the Government to adopt good governance measures.
According to Palacio, the Ministry of Education has abandoned that position.
Palacio told the media that the BNTU has always been committed to making up time for the days missed because of the protest.
The Chief Education Officer, Dr. Carol Babb, had previously indicated that teachers must make up 6 days.
According to Palacio the teachers will use three days of the Easter break (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) to make up for the 6 days.
Another three days will be made up at the start of the summer break.
