By BBN Staff: In March of 2016, three police constables were accused of brutally beating bartender Edwin Ixtapac in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. After beating Ixtapac, the police officers then took him into custody.

Ixtapac was not taken to the polyclinic until a day later when he was already unconscious in a jail cell. He was then transported to the KHMH where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police constables: Reydel Teck, 20, Jahsimir Cob, 20, and Romelio Logan, 22, will stand trial for manslaughter.

Last year, the charges were downgraded from murder to manslaughter and the men were out on bail after 7 months on remand.

Yesterday, a preliminary inquiry confirmed that in April, the men will answer to charges of manslaughter in the Supreme Court.

The three accused men remain out on bail pending the outcome of the trial.
