By BBN Staff: BBN reported on Wednesday that two people perished in a fiery road traffic accident on the Placencia road.

Yesterday an official police report was issued stating that between miles 2 and 3, Stann Creek District, officers saw a Ford F-150 double cab pickup truck completely destroyed by fire.

The report also made mention that the pickup truck collided into an electrical wooden lamp post.

Inside the vehicle were suspected charred human remains that have not yet been identified.

Reports to BBN indicate that the truck either caught fire as a result of the accident or was deliberately set on fire.

The Forensic examiner has determined that a man was sitting in the back seat, and a woman was in the front passenger seat.

The victims are suspected to be a European couple.

There are still many questions surrounding this accident.

Police are investigating, what happened to the driver of the vehicle and the license plates which appear to have been removed from the truck.

Sources indicate that police may be investigating the case as a possible murder.

The case has been handed over from the Independence police to the Major Crimes Unit in Belmopan City.
