UDP wins Arenal by-elections

By BBN Staff: On Sunday, February 27, a by-election was held in the village of Arenal in the Cayo district.

Arenal is a small village located near the borderline with Belize and Guatemala.

The by-election was held to elect a chairman since the previous one passed away.

Villagers and Guatemalan-Belizeans came out to cast their votes.

The UDP came out victorious winning with 251 votes while the PUP garnered only 98 votes.

At last year’s village council elections, the UDP won.
