PM Barrow says “no retrenchment” in 2017

By BBN Staff: The Prime Minister of Belize, Dean Barrow held a press conference yesterday to discuss the latest negotiations with the country’s super bond.

Members of the media asked Barrow to comment on the cuts or tax increases that will come in the 2017/2018 Fiscal Budget. Barrow did not speak specifically on the issue of taxes but he affirmed the public that there will be no retrenchment and no increase in business tax.

Barrow also reiterated that government will seek financial stability through improved revenue collection and spending cuts.

The 2017 Budget will be presented on Monday, March 13, 2017.
