American tourist drowns in Placencia

By BBN Staff: BBN has confirmed that an American tourist drowned in Placencia village on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, Steven Gail Wine, 53, from Colorado, USA was socializing with his family members at Barefoot Bar in Placencia village and at around 6:30 p.m., he left them and went for a swim in the sea.

Shortly thereafter, Annie Berrardi, his common law wife went to look for him and found him in front of the Tipsy Tuna Restaurant and Bar lying motionless.

CPR was conducted on Wine by a Placencia resident; however he was unresponsive.

Police and a medical doctor were called to the scene and they too performed CPR on Wine but they couldn’t revive him.

Wine was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police didn’t observe no signs of physical violence on Wine’s body and as a result, they do not suspect foul play.
