By BBN Staff: On Tuesday, BBN reported that police were called to a location near the Iguana Creek bridge in the Cayo District where a group of young men hunting iguanas found what appeared to be parts of a human body.
The police found a black plastic bag containing a white sack. The sack contained two amputated hands from elbow down and two amputated feet from the knee down.
The amputated body parts were taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and now awaits a post mortem examination.
Yesterday, San Ignacio police also found a torso in the same area where the other remains were found on Tuesday.
A source has confirmed to BBN that the body parts are believed to be that of a female.
The parts are yet to be validated by forensic tests to determine if they belong to the same person.
Police have no records of missing persons and have not yet recovered the head of the person.
Police investigations continue.
