New Macal Bridge to be completed in May

By Zoila Palma: In his budget presentation yesterday, Minister of Works, Rene Montero said that for the fiscal year 2016-2017, the Hawkesworth bridge in Santa Elena/ San Ignacio underwent repairs costing $251,133.

BBN readers will recall that a public notice was issued last year while the Hawkesworth bridge was being repaired.

Montero also stated that repairs done on the low lying wooden bridge were at a cost of $233,690.

A total of $2.94 million was spent on road works projects in the Cayo district.

The new Macal Bridge project is said to cost over $20 million and will be completed in May of 2017.

The minister also mentioned rehabilitation projects done on community centers in Cristo Rey village as well as a new health clinic in Santa Elena town to be opened next month.
