Germany makes donation to Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center

By BBN Staff: According to a Government of Belize press release, Germany handed over grant of US $21,604 to the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center on April 3, 2017.
His Excellency Mr. Harald Klein, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guatemala and Belize handed the donation to Mrs. Dorothy Menzies, Chair of the Board of Governors for the Center.
According to the release, funds were mobilized through the initiative of the Board of Governors and will be used to assist with the current upgrading of the Center which is being implemented by the Government of Belize.
Upgrades include the replacement of furniture, completion of the fence, re-wiring of the electrical system, installation of a surveillance system in an effort to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
The Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center is a residential care facility for children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused and/or orphaned.
The Center currently houses 44 children and has been in operation for 42 years.
