4 more Guatemalans caught gold panning in Chiquibul

By BBN Staff: Last week, BBN reported that 4 Guatemalans were caught panning for gold in the Chiquibul National Park in the Cayo District.

The Guatemalans were found with two vilas of gold and have since been charged.

Yesterday, four more Guatemalans were caught panning for Gold in the same national park.

The men are expected to be charged today in San Ignacio Town.

Gold panning is a continuous problem in the Ceibo Chico Area. Guatemalans frequent the area also to cut Xate and hunt Scarlet macaws and other wildlife in Belize’s forests.
