By BBN Staff:  The Belize Territorial Volunteers (BTV) and the PG News network have launched a song competition entitled “Sing for Sarstoon”.

Both Guatemala and Belize have a long standing territorial dispute and there have been constant confrontations with Guatemalan authorities and Belizeans wanting to set foot on the Sarstoon Island.

The BTV has been actively involved in informing the Belizean people on the occurrences near the Sarstoon Island and has remained firm in their position that Belize must not go to the ICJ.

The highlight of the competition is to inform and educate Belizeans on Belize’s defined borders.

To be eligible to enter the competition, songs must be originally composed and be historically accurate.

The flyer of the competition states that April 30 in 1859, Belize’s borders were defined.

The winner of the competition will receive a $500 cash prize, and an opportunity to perform the song and record a music video.

Second place winners get $300 cash and third place winners get $100 cash.
