Fire intentionally set in Belize City grocery store

By BBN Staff: On Saturday morning around 3:40, police visited Maskall Street in Belize City where Robert Ramclam, 71,  reported that he was at home sleeping and at 3:30 a.m., he heard noises coming from his shop located about 6 feet away from his house.

When he checked his shop, he saw a person he recognized walking away from his store and immediately noticed that his shop was on fire.

Ramclam and his neighbors managed to bring the fire under control and personnel from the Fire Department extinguished the fire.

The building was partially damaged.

The shop and its content are not insured and the value of the damages have not yet been ascertained.

Police investigations continue.
