Orange Walk accident leaves 1 dead several injured

By BBN Staff: There was a  fatal road traffic accident in Orange Walk on Saturday.

Acting on information, police visited the Northern Regional Hospital where they saw the body of 6-year-old Johan H. Thiesen of Camp #40, Ship Yard Village, Orange Walk District.

He was reportedly on-board a horse and buggy along with his 4 siblings (10-year-old Jacobo Thiesen, 1-year-old Gerrado Thiesen, 7-year-old Pedro Thiesen and 4-year-old Heinrich Thiesen) on the Ship Yard and Indian Creek Village Road when a Dodge Ram pick-up truck being driven by Jose Felipe Cuellar, 27, collided into the horse and buggy causing it to flip over.

Johan sustained head and body injuries and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Heinrich Thiesen sustained a cut to the back of the head and abrasions to the left ankle and is receiving treatment at the Northern Regional Hospital.

Jacobo Thiesen who was in control of the horse and buggy sustained minor injuries along with Pedro Thiesen and Gerrado Thiesen.

They were all treated and released from the hospital.

Police investigation continues.
