By BBN Staff:  While on a working tour in the Belize River Valley area, Edmond Castro, the Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management (NEMO) joined the regional coordinator for NEMO, Al Westby, and Lemonal Village Chairman, Kenroy Reynolds on an inspection of the old community centre in that village.

The centre, which was previously utilized for classes by the primary school, is in need of repair. Castro says his ministry is seeking to identify funds to quickly renovate the building in order to utilize it as a hurricane shelter for villagers in the area.

The Ministry of National Emergency Management and NEMO are currently inspecting shelters countrywide in preparation for the upcoming hurricane season which commences on June 1, 2017.
