By BBN Staff:As part of preparations for the upcoming hurricane season, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has relocated to a new office in San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye.
The new office is located in a central area just opposite of the San Pedro Airstrip, on the second floor of a building that houses Wings San Pedro Department and Furniture Store on Coconut Drive.
Also, a new NEMO Coordinator, Vanessa Parham, has been assigned to the Belize Rural South office which includes Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker.
Yesterday, Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management, Edmond Castro was in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye for the opening of the new office. He was accompanied by CEO in the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management, Ruth Meighan; Regional Coordinator for Belize and Cayo Districts, Al Westby; and NEMO Logistics Officer; Shereen Reyes.
Also present was local San Pedro Town Council Operations Officer, Jorge Aldana.
The new Hurricane Season starts on June 1, 2017, and the Ministry of National Emergency Management and NEMO are fine-tuning their operations in preparation for it.
