Penner reluctant to testify (again)

By BBN Staff: Today’s Senate hearing was off to a technical start.

Former Minister of Immigration, Elvin Penner read a statement telling the Senate Select Committee that the constitution disallows him from responding to questions posed by the committee.

However, Senator Eamon Courtenay, before disagreeing with him asked him to specify which part of the constitution said so.

Penner could not locate that part of the constitution.

According to Senator Salazar, if Penner refuses to answer the questions, he would be violating the Evidence Act.

With that, Penner told the committee that he would respond how best he could to the questions posed.
