BREAKING NEWS

By BBN Staff: On Saturday, May 20, around 9:20 p.m., Orange Walk Police received information of a house on fire at Chips Alley, Louisiana area, Orange Walk town.

Police visited the location and saw an 18 x 20 plywood house with zinc roof, engulfed in flames.

The blaze was eventually put out by fire fighters; however, the house and its content were completely destroyed.

Police investigations reveal that Roy Bennette Mangar, 45 had a misunderstanding with his father Lyncoln Pratt 58. Mangar had reportedly threatened his father that he would burn down the house.

Pratt was at work when he was informed that his son Mangar was dismantling his house so he immediately made his way to the residence where he saw his son at the back of the house setting it on fire.

The house was not insured and is valued at $7,000. The value of the content inside is unknown.

Police have since detained Mangar pending charges of arson.
