By BBN Staff: The National Creative Director of the Ms. Belize pageant, Opal Enriquez, issued a four page release yesterday.
Enriquez states in the release that she is leaving to pursue her personal goals and that there will be no 2017 Ms. Belize pageant.
Enriquez says that since there will be no 2017 pageant for a new Ms. Belize, effective immediately, the official title of Ms. Belize 2017 and all affiliated duties as the reigning Ms. Belize will pass on to the runner up for 2016, Marcia Moody of San Ignacio.
In her statement, Enriquez says that Moody is to represent Belize at the 2017 Ms. International pageant.
Ms. Belize Universe, Rebecca Rath is left out of the picture.
While Moody’s supporters have been congratulating her on social media, some Belizeans have been ranting on the supposed “dethroning” of Rebecca Rath who represented Belize at the Miss Universe pageant in Manila, Philippines in January.
This announcement, however comes after Rath’s father, Tony had published a revealing “Rocky road to Ms. Universe” synopsis of events that occurred during Rebecca’s journey to the Miss Universe pageant. In it, Tony alleged that Enriquez sabotaged Rebecca’s chances at the pageant.
Opal, who finally commented publicly yesterday, has refuted all claims against her. The Rath’s are yet to comment on Enriquez’s announcement.
