By BBN Staff: This morning’s senate hearing saw the presence of Alberto August, Chairman of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and leader of the newly formed group, Belizeans Against Courtenay (BAC) along with his supporters in red shirts.
Also at the senate hearing were members of the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) showing support to their new President, Elena Smith.
President of Citizens Organized for Liberty Through Action (COLA), Geovanni Bracket and Raymond Rivers of Poor People Organization for a Healthy and Righteous Society ( PPOHRS) were not allowed inside the hearing of the Senate Special Select Committee today.
Brackett told BBN: “The police notified me to not go in because there is a present ban on us entering and we were also told that Alberto August would not be attending but clearly that is not the case.”
Brackett is calling on the Leader of the Opposition, the social partners and other senators to address this situation.
