By BBN Staff: Yesterday morning around 10:00, police visited the Corozal Pier on 1st Avenue, where cops found the body of Acita Milsa Flores, 44, of Sarteneja, Corozal inside a skiff in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police investigations revealed that on June 1 at 5:00 a.m.,  Flores and eight other persons left Sarteneja in a white and blue 24 foot skiff en route to Calderitas village and Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico to do some shopping.

Around 6:30 pm, they departed Mexico back to Sarteneja and while on the sea, the skiff was hit by a huge wave causing it to capsize.

On Friday June 2, at 4:30 a.m., a search party left Sarteneja and found eight survivors near the coast of Calderitas, however, Flores was not among them.

Flores’ body was found floating in the sea about ½ mile north of Consejo village, Corozal.

The body was transported to the Corozal Town Hospital where it was pronounced dead.

Last night a post-mortem examination was conducted on the body certifying the cause of death as drowning.
