By BBN Staff: Less than a month ago, Eldred Neal, Public Service Union (PSU) President, made very incendiary comments on the Garinagu community in a conversation that was secretly taped.
The leaked tape created much controversy, so much so that nine of the fifteen members on his council of management wrote him a letter asking him to resign.
But Neal simply wouldn’t submit his resignation.
Last Friday, the PSU Council of Management met and voted to suspend Neal and today they confirmed it in a press release.
According to the statement, Neal won’t be able to conduct any business on behalf of the PSU and is urged to return all the assets of the Union until his suspension is lifted.
Additionally, he cannot call any member ship meeting but can request the audience of the PSU’s membership through the Council of Management.
The statement further claims that he has a right to appeal the decision made by the council but he has not yet done so.
Efforts are currently underway to have Neal’s Second Vice President assume the role of interim president.
