Corozal man charged with 5 traffic offenses

By BBN Staff: Adrian Ucan, a labourer of San Victor Village, Corozal District was charged for five (5) offences, namely “Drove motor cycle without helmet”, “Drove motor vehicle without being a holder of a Belize Driving license”, “Drove an unregistered motor vehicle”, “Drove motor vehicle not covered by a Third Party Insurance”, and “Used an unlicensed motor vehicle” by Traffic Warden attached to the Department of Transport Corozal.

On Monday the May 29, 2017 at the Corozal Magistrate’s Court, Ucan plead guilty to the offences and was fined as follows:

Drove motor cycle without Helmet Fine $25.00 plus $5.00 cost of court.

To be paid by 9th July, 2017

In default: 1 week imprisonment

Drove motor vehicle without being a holder of a Belize Driving license Fine $200.00 plus $5.00 cost of court.

To be paid by 9th July, 2017

In default: 2 month imprisonment

Drove an unregistered motor vehicle Fine $25.00 plus $5.00 cost of court.

To be paid by 9th July, 2017

In default: 1 week imprisonment

Drove motor vehicle not covered by a third party risk Insurance Fine $355.00 plus $5.00 cost of court.

To be paid by 31th July, 2017

In default: 3 months imprisonment

Used an unlicensed motor vehicle Fine $50.00 plus $5.00 cost of court.

To be paid by 30 June, 2017

In default: 2 weeks imprisonment

Total fine: $655.00 plus $25.00 cost of court

In default: 6 Months Imprisonment

Ucan has also been disqualified from obtaining or holding a Belize Driving license for 1 Year.

The Department of Transport reminds the public that all Traffic related offences encountered by the Department of Transport will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Drivers and other road users are hereby advised to comply with the rules of the road and other Traffic Laws.
