By BBN Staff: The Belize City Council unveiled its latest beautification project today, a new sign in the Battlefield Park.

The sign was donated to the council by businessman Steven Perrera, a long standing partner with CitCo that collaborated on the Belize signs near the Baron Bliss light house and in Buttonwood Bay.

Perrera said that the sign was done by Slingshot Signs, who offered it at a discounted rate, because it was a donation to the city. He went on to say that the sign is valued between $5,000 and $5,500.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon, Mayor Darrell Bradley explained that the sign forms a part of the council’s overall plan to develop areas in Belize city that are along the water front.

Bradley said that the council has been deliberately making strides towards marketing Belize City as a “Water City”, therefore it has concentrated a lot of infrastructure works in those areas.

He added that similar initiatives are underway for the Cinderella Plaza and the Yarborough “Yabra” Field.
