MIT bust 72 pounds of weed

By BBN Staff: On Wednesday morning around 10:30, the Police Mobile Interdiction team bust a huge amount of weed totaling 72 pounds in Ontario Village, Cayo.

The drugs were reportedly being smuggled. Thirty seven parcels of weed were packed into a compartment in a cattle truck.

The MIT caught the truck near Ontario Village after police observed the vehicle speeding.

Officer Commanding MIT, Superintendent Leslie Wade said that the truck was taken to their base and there they found the hidden compartment.

Wade said that they intercepted one of the cow trucks coming from the Guatemala border and they took it to the National Police Training Academy where they searched it and found the weed.

The driver of the truck is from Benque Viejo del Carmen. He is in police detention pending charges.

    Why do they keep wasting their time with weed when murders are going unsolved? What’s their conviction rate now . . . 3 – 4%?

    Have you ever asked yourself what’s the main cause off murders in Belize? Or you just talk cas u have an opinion. Ppl killing each other cas of the drug trade and drug turfs. But you would never know cas you still living inside ur fantasy box. Get URS stats.police controls the drug trade and that control’s the murders..
