BDF graduate from Helicopter Conversion training

By BBN Staff: The Belize Defense Force (BDF) will hold a graduation ceremony on Friday to honor four pilots and 13 technicians who have successfully completed a Helicopter Conversion training.

The Graduation Ceremony will take place at the Belize Defence Force Air Wing Base, Williamson Hanger Complex, commencing at 9:00 a.m.

The Helicopter Conversion training started on July 11, 2016 and concluded on June 26, 2017 and covered a wide range of helicopter related subjects and practical exercises.

This Conversion Training was necessary due to the acquisition of the two UH1H helicopters that were donated to Belize by the Taiwanese Government in April 2016.

The graduation ceremony signals the end of the training. Now the BDF pilots and technicians will be able to fly and maintain these platforms making the BDF self-sufficient.

The training was done at a cost of BZ $3Million, with instructors provided through the Belize Aviation Company (BELAV).
