By BBN Staff: The Gateway Youth Center is partnering with leading NGOs, businesses and government agencies to start a collaborative discussion about improving the summer experiences of youths in the Belize District.
The Belize Family Life Association (BFLA), Conscious Youth Development Program (CYDP), Feinstein Group of Companies, Belize City Council, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Red Cross, Ministry of Education, Creating Change through Sports, and Samuel Haynes Institute of Excellence have joined the effort with the Gateway Youth Center.
The idea was birthed in the Gateway Youth Center’s staff room while discussing the possibilities for impacting youth summer activities.
The discussion then morphed to a 20-member stakeholders’ meeting at the Gateway Youth Center on April 27th. Motivated by the needs and benefits of a collaborative summer program, the aforementioned partners began the planning process immediately.
This gave rise to the creation of a collaborative youth summer calendar of events, safe space community activities and a three-week empowerment camp.
The objectives of the collaborative effort are to:
Goal of the Summer Experience 2017

Target Group
They are currently catering for 300 children and are seeking support from bus owners who wish to join in transporting the children to the BDF camp for the three-week summer experience.
The camp begins on June 27 and runs through to August 2017.
