By BBN Staff: The 15th installment of the Belize Archaeology Symposium (BAS) is being held from June 28 ‐ 30, 2017 in San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize.

The primary objective of the symposium is to disseminate current archaeological information to the people of Belize, the tourism industry, and the general archaeological community.

It is envisioned that the conference will provide an interdisciplinary arena that will allow students, staff, faculty, and practitioners to discuss and exchange ideas about the latest developments in the field.  Edited versions of the papers presented at the symposium will be included in an annual publication series entitled “Research Reports in Belizean Archaeology”.

All presentations for the symposium are taking place at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel’s Bedran Hall.

Each 20-minute presentation is followed by a 10-minute discussion segment.  Presentations will be made focusing on the following topics: · The Origin of Ancient Maya Lifeways and Society: Preclassic and Early Classic Developments · Archaeology in Belize: Research Investigation Results

Registrations are held each morning starting at 7:30 am.

Registration for Belizean Students with valid student IDs are FREE, Belizean Attendees are $10.00 per day and Foreign Attendees are $20.00 per day.

Lectures start daily at 8:30 am.
