By BBN Staff: Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams’ departure from Belize City has raised concerns among Belize City residents.
Williams’ work in the streets of the city’s southside included intervention programs, community policing and even a peace march earlier this year with gang members.
Williams has been influential in assisting the youths and bringing a sense of calm to the southside of Belize City.
The well respected top cop leaves today but at his farewell social yesterday, he encouraged the young people he had worked with to always remember their discussions, their importance and to respect their lives and the lives of others.
“We can disagree on issues but I‘m sure that as human beings we have many things in common. Please focus on those things that we have in common as human beings and work more on those instead of the things that we have in difference. Each life does matter, yours matters. Please don‘t allow anybody, and I mean absolutely nobody to allow you to go back to where you once were. You have decided to move away from there, stay the course and remain positive,” Williams said.
