By BBN Staff: Crime Stoppers joined with Salvadoran, Guatemalan and Belizean police in a two day forum to share experiences and information on the contraband of cigarettes in the countries.

It is the first time that Belize has participated in the forum.

The Belize Police Department’s representative was Officer Commanding Belmopan police, Sr. Supt. Howell Gillett.

A press release from Policia Nacional Civil, Salvador states that the three countries shared information and experiences about better border security measures in the three countries.

The purpose of the discussions was to help alleviate the problems of illegal cigarettes entering the countries.

Crime Stoppers’ campaign encourages the public to report the contraband of cigarettes because it finances gangs in the countries.
