By BBN Staff: Speaker of the House, Laura Longsworth, took a strong stance this week against People’s United Party Leader John Briceño, shutting him down as he attempted to violate the standing order of the House in a speech.

Briceno had attempted to make comments to the Speaker, regarding her vote that Mace Bearer, Brian “Yellow Man” Audinett should have lost his job for assaulting members of the media. Longsworth quickly cut Briceño off, reminding him that according to the standing orders he could not make that kind of comment.

Please do not go there please Hon. Opposition Leader. It is in the standing orders, you are not allowed to do that. You are not allowed to refer to my chair at all, please,” Longsworth said.

Not to be deterred, Briceño tried to justify his comments, citing that he was entitled to make them under section 91.2 of the standing orders. Longsworth quickly reminded him that under section 38.8 he was barred from making comments relating to the chair, then told him to take his seat.
