Monchie strikes back, says PM Barrow is lying

Posted: Tuesday, July 4, 2017. 9:20 a.m. CST.

By BBN Staff: People’s United Party Standard Bearer for Orange Walk North, Ramon “Monchie” Cervantes, is insisting that Prime Minister Dean Barrow lied on him, when he alleged Cervantes involvement with death threats to Gaspar Vega.

Cervantes, being unable to defend himself at the House of Representatives, held a press conference on Monday to address Barrow’s allegations.

That is damn blasted lie that he said,” Cervantes said of Barrow, insisting that neither he nor any of his associates have made any kind of threats towards Vega or his family.

“He cannot point to any event in which the police interrogated or interviewed me in relation to his accusation, to support what he said in the House of Representatives,” Cervantes added.

In last Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Barrow made the accusation, to justify why Vega has around-the-clock police security, despite not having a ministerial portfolio.

Cervantes and Vega have a history of more than political rivalry, after Cervantes accused Vega of being responsible for his father’s murder in June 2014.
