By BBN Staff: Ramon “Monchie” Cervantes, PUP Standard Bearer for Orange Walk North, said this week that he is looking into having UDP area representative Gaspar Vega, recalled.
Cervantes told the media this week that he is looking into gathering the resources to call a bi-election and have Vega unseated, because of his non-representation in the house for his constituency.
“I think the decent thing to do is to resign and give the people a fair chance for them to elect someone else that the people believe will represent them adequately,” Cervantes said.
He emphasized that Vega’s repeated absences from meetings (seven total before attending Friday’s meeting) is a sign of disrespect to his constituency.
Cervantes said that gathering the resources is difficult, therefore he cannot give an update as to when they will begin the process, but he is actively looking for the means to unseat Vega.
