By BBN Staff:  Cabinet Ministers Anthony “Boots” Martinez and Edmond Castro are expected to testify before the Senate Special Select Committee today.

Their appearance will make the first time, seated ministers are called to testify before the committee.

Martinez was scheduled to appear last week, but ended up being rescheduled.

Both Castro and Martinez have been named specifically by previous witness Alvarine Burgess, who testified that they accepted $2,000 bribes to guarantee that immigration applications would be approved.

Both men have gone on record to deny those allegations.

Castro had already taken Burgess to court for defamation of character, referencing similar allegations, but he later withdrew the charges. At that time Burgess had alleged that all ministers of government had a quota of passports and visas to sell.

Channel 7 reported that committee chair, Aldo Salazar will not be attending today’s meeting, so the senators will have to select a temporary chair for the session.
