By BBN Staff: On Monday, July 3 around 8:50 am, San Pedro police visited a hotel on a report of a sudden death incident.

Police saw the body of 13 year old Faye Lin Cannon.

At the time, Cannon’s adoptive parents were present at the hotel.

The two American nationals reported that around 7 am, Cannon woke up and asked for water and then went back to bed.

According to the mother, about 15 minutes later, her husband went to check on Cannon and she was unresponsive.

The mother reported to police that Cannon was mentally ill and would physically hurt herself at times.

The mother told police that on Sunday, June 3, Cannon had complained of difficulty breathing.

Cannon was pronounced dead at 8:57 am Monday.

Police observed bruises to the arms and legs and swelling to the right side of her head.

The body was taken to the KHMH morgue and the post mortem examinations revealed that Cannon was physically and sexually abused.

Both parents have been detained pending investigation.
