By BBN Staff: Many Belizean account holders of Belize Bank Ltd. have been complaining on social media about the new changes to their account numbers, not being able to access their online accounts and being unable to withdraw money from the ATM.
The bank had issued a notice informing customers of the changes.
Yesterday, 7News Belize spoke with Executive Chairman of Belize Bank, Lyndon Guiseppi who explained that because the bank is transitioning from a system it had been using for 15 years. He noted that during the upgrade some basic services had collapsed.
The new system is Fusion Banking Essence, he explained. The system change began last Monday when people began noticing difficulty withdrawing money and having issues with online accounts.
According to Guiseppi, the system should become normal by the end of this week. The Belize Bank apologized for any inconvenience caused.
