By BBN Staff: This afternoon, Area Representative for Cayo Central and Minister of Works, Rene Montero appeared before the Senate Select Committee to answer questions regarding the Auditor General’s report into the Passport, Visa and Nationality Department for 2011-2013.

Montero had requested facilitation of immigration documents for 7 different persons including the Harmush family.

According to the minister, he wrote a letter after his office received a call from the Immigration Department.

“A list was given to my secretary and since it was given by Immigration, I thought it was genuine,” Montero told the Senate.

When asked if he knew any of the members of the Harmush family, he said no.

And when asked if he requested facilitation of files for members of the Harmush family including one Wael Harmush, Montero stated that he does not know them since they are not members of his constituency.

Montero reiterated that he did not request the facilitation of documents with specific names, in his letter; it carried only the VNA numbers.
