By BBN Staff: If you’re a Caribbean citizen you may no longer need a Taiwanese visa to visit the Republic of China (Taiwan).

However, your country, like Belize, must have a diplomatic relationship with Taiwan.

Yesterday, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement which said the visa requirement is being removed to, “demonstrate the closeness between Taiwan and its allies in the Caribbean” and “the principles of mutual benefit and reciprocity”.

The statement further revealed that it hopes this will, “lead to an increase in tourism, business, trade, and cultural exchanges at multiple levels”.

This announcement came during Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes’ state visit to Taiwan, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
