PUP Leader calls for investigation into BDF uniforms

By BBN Staff: Leader of the PUP, John Briceno is calling for an investigation into the discovery of uniforms belonging to the Belize Defense Force in a home in Orange Walk town.

According to reports, the Ministry of Defense sent the uniforms to the Ministry of Finance for destruction. Some of the uniforms were also found with a Mexican who was heading to Botes from Belize.

A video also circulated in the media this week purportedly showing high ranking BDF officials in contact with the persons in possession of the uniforms.

Briceno says that an investigation into this matter must be done.

In an interview with 7 News, Briceno said that it is of even greater concern that there is a high ranking member of the BDF that somehow seems to have been involved with these people.


“…because why is it that the Mexican was communicating with him? Why is it that Commander Jones doesn’t want to do a full investigation as to get to the bottom of it? We can’t cover up these things. It is because of the constant cover up that we do that these things continue to happen,” Briceno said. Neither the Ministry of Defense nor the Belize Defense Force is conducting investigation into the matter.
