Guatemalan bandit charged by Belize police

By BBN Staff: On Saturday, July 8, two Guatemalan bandits tried to steal a Toyota Hilux on the Calla Creek road.

Police and the bandits were involved in a shootout in which one of the Guatemalans was fatally shot and the other injured.

San Ignacio police reported 20-year-old Marlon Benedicto Chocooj Portillo, a Guatemalan of Melchor de Mencos, Peten has since been charged for the offenses of “kept ammunition without a gun license” and “kept firearm without a gun license”.
