PUP suggests Mayor Bradley may be unhappy with UDP

By BBN Staff: People’s United Party (PUP) Leader John Briecno, in an interview with Channel 5 yesterday, suggested that the reason current Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley may not be seeking re-election is because he could be “ashamed” of his United Democratic Party (UDP).
Speculating on Bradley’s decision to step aside and allow City Councilors Dion Leslie and Philip Willoughby to vie for Mayoral candidacy, Briceno said “…it could be that he is ashamed of his government. He is ashamed of how his Ministers have been behaving; he is ashamed of the corruption that is pervasive in every corner of the UDP government,” before adding “…I would not want to be associated with some of them.”
In the meantime, according to Briceno, PUP Deputy Party Leader Cordel Hyde is busy assembling an able slate to contest the next municipal election against the incumbent UDP slate.
Bradley had recently offered comments in the media regarding his disappointment in seeing agents of the UDP harass and threaten members of the media in the National Assembly several months ago during a Senate hearing. At the time Bradley said the incident affected him as a member of the party and subverted the process of justice undertaken by the Senate Committee.
